War Plans are easier to use when you start with a question: what does your character need after the next few runs? If you're short on experience, there's little point chasing a route built around boss loot. If you're trying to improve your Diablo 4 Items, another pile of experience orbs may not help much. Season 15 lets you connect endgame activities to reward nodes, then invest in skill trees that change how those activities play. Some upgrades affect enemy encounters; others steer the rewards. The catch is that a locked route isn't something you can casually rearrange halfway through. Check the reward nodes before you commit, especially when choosing between ordinary gear and resources you'll use across several runs. Dungeon Keys, crafting supplies, Obols, Gold, and experience tend to have a clearer purpose than another random weapon.
Start With the Runs You Can Repeat
For leveling, Kurast Undercity is a strong place to build around. Jade Epiphany makes experience orbs more worthwhile, and the speed-focused upgrades help you reach the boss portal sooner. Once it's open, pick up the remaining orbs you can reach easily and move on. Clearing every last enemy can turn a quick run into a slow one. Tributes give you another reason to visit when you're after specific rewards, including Runes or Talismans. Helltide works differently. It's less about one clean target and more about collecting several useful things while you play: Cinders, Forgotten Souls, keys, and experience. Its skill tree can add boss-related encounters, while other choices help with Cinder collection or protection. The 666-Cinder chest is an option, too, though it's worth asking whether the time spent saving for it fits your current goal.
Pick Bosses or Dungeons for the Next Upgrade
When your build is ready to clear bosses quickly, Lair Bosses deserve a place in the plan. Their tree supports runs aimed at rare equipment and boss rewards, making them a sensible choice when you're looking for Uniques or Mythics. But a fast boss route isn't much use if you've run out of the keys and materials needed to keep it going. That's where your other activities matter. Helltide can help feed those runs, while Nightmare Dungeons offer a steadier way to gather crafting materials. The Nightmare Dungeon tree gives you a few directions to take: recurring mechanics through the middle, more Treasure Goblin opportunities on the right, or stronger baseline loot on the left. Don't pick a branch just because it sounds exciting. Think about what held you back on your last session. If you couldn't afford an upgrade, materials probably matter more than another shot at random loot.
Give the Smaller Roles Their Due
The Pit earns its place when your Glyphs need work. Pairing Chrono's Blessing with extra upgrade opportunities can make those runs more rewarding, but difficulty is a trap here. A level you can clear briskly may do more for your Glyph progress over an evening than a tougher level that takes twice as long. Infernal Hordes are harder to recommend as a routine stop for every character. Runs take time, so make room for them when you're chasing something tied to their encounters, not simply because they're available in the War Plan. Tree of Whispers needs a different mindset altogether: it doesn't take a normal activity slot. You'll complete Whispers while doing other content, and its tree can add rewards such as Corrupted Roots loot, Whisper Cache opportunities, or Varshan-related encounters. That's useful background progress, particularly when the tasks happen to line up with a run you already planned.
Final Thoughts
It's tempting to assemble a route that promises a little of everything. In practice, you'll notice the payoff sooner when the activities support one immediate need. Use Undercity for experience, lean on Helltide when you need several resources, and turn to Nightmare Dungeons for crafting supplies. Make Lair Bosses a bigger priority once you can sustain the encounters; keep the Pit close when Glyph upgrades are the job. Your plan can change as your character does. Before starting another round, look at what's actually missing from your build, whether that's keys, upgrade materials, or the right piece of gear. Even if you're comparing in-game farming with d4 mats for sale, that check keeps your time and Gold pointed at the upgrade you're trying to make.
